Charter
Purpose:
- Provide a forum where wine producers and distributors can present their product to a group of wine enthusiasts.
- Members enjoy an opportunity to experience wines that they might not necessarily purchase on their own as well as to learn about all aspects of the wine experience. The group provides an opportunity to meet new people in a relaxed environment.
Operations:
- The club is member owned and operated by a committee of volunteers. All financial information is open to the membership. Financial statements are published at the beginning and the middle of the year. The intent of the organization is not to generate a profit. Any excess revenues will be used for club activities. The club will operate on a calendar year.
- Email will be the only form of communications
Committee:
- Committee members will pay membership fees and any other charges just like any member.
- Decisions will be based on a majority vote. Cheques must have 2 signatures. Only members may become committee members. The committee reserves the right to restrict membership. Any changes to the charter must be approved by a majority vote by the membership at large.
Events:
- The club will hold tasting events every month with the exception of July, August and December.
- Special events will be organized from time to time. Member interest and participation will ensure that special events continue. The intent is to have suppliers provide the wine at no cost. From time to time, the club may choose to purchase wine for tasting. In those cases, the club may charge a nominal fee for that tasting.
Termination:
- In the event that the club should cease to operate, any funds remaining, (after all expenses are paid) will be spent on a final club event.
