Presenting to the Club

The Oakville Wine Enthusiasts Club is exactly as its name suggests - we are enthusiastic about learning, loving and enjoying different wines.

The purpose of the club is to provide a showcase forum where wine producers and distributors can present their product to a group of wine enthusiasts. Members enjoy the opportunity to experience wines they might not ordinarily purchase, or are not available through the LCBO, as well as learn about all aspects of the wine experience. Our club provides the opportunity to meet new people in a relaxed environment.

Our tastings usually consist of 6 varieties supplied by the winery, usually equally split between reds and whites. The winery representative would be expected to impart the relevant information pertaining to the wine, i.e. areas of grape growth, soil conditions etc. In other words, anything he or she feels would be knowledgeable for the budding wine connoisseur.

The OWEC supplies cheese and fruit to accompany the tastings.  If there are specific cheeses which compliment the selected wines, then we appreciate being advised in order to provide them for the tasting.

OWEC requires the presenter to provide a minimum of 100 order forms for members attending and we coordinate delivery to our members.

We also ask the host or hostess to provide a gift or gifts, (Gift certificate, tee shirts, cork screws with your company name etc.) for an attendee who's name has been drawn in the raffle.

Presenters are encouraged to pour the first wine as soon as possible upon the start of the event. After each pouring and discussion about the wine, time should be given for members to talk amongst themselves.

We hold our tastings in the beautiful Arbour Room at St. Volodymyr's Cultural Centre, which has a very convenient location with plenty of free parking. Our tastings usually attract between 90 and 100 attendees and, bearing in mind the population of Oakville, we feel such a presentation is demographically advantageous for wine distributors.

Through our web site we increase exposure to our members, and to all inquisitive potential members or guests who log on. We provide a full page for the tasting details and the raffle prize for up coming events. We also provide a permanent link on our website to a presenter’s website.  Our website currently attracts up to 1400 visitors a month  - definitely an advertising bonus!

We would love to dedicate an entire evening to your company. We are a captive audience!
